Disney appoints a new CEO
Beijing Business Daily (Reporter Wu Qiyun) reported that on February 4th, The Walt Disney Company’s Board of Directors announced that Josh D’Amaro, President of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, will succeed Robert Iger as the company’s CEO. The appointment will take effect at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on March 18, 2026. At that time, D’Amaro will also join the company’s Board of Directors.
As the head of the company’s largest business segment, D’Amaro currently oversees Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, which generated $36 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025 and employs 185,000 cast members and staff worldwide. D’Amaro has nearly 28 years of experience at Disney. He is a key driver of Disney’s largest global expansion in its experience history and has led this business segment to record highs in financial performance, creative innovation, and guest satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Dana Walden, the current Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, will be promoted to President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, with the appointment also effective on March 18. As Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, Walden is responsible for leading Disney’s global entertainment, news, and content businesses, including the company’s streaming services.
Throughout the succession planning process, Iger provided systematic guidance to internal candidates. After the transition, he will continue to serve as a senior advisor and a member of the Board of Directors until his retirement on December 31, 2026.
