On February 11, Ethereum Foundation AI Lead Davide Crapis stated, “The internet has turned ‘access’ into an identity-based model. Every API call is tied to your email, credit card, or wallet address. AI will make this situation worse. The proposal is to replace identity with staking, depositing funds once. This allows for thousands of API calls to be made while remaining unlinked (untraceable). If abused, the stake will be confiscated. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin agreed, believing this is the right path to make Ethereum a home for AI, emphasizing fundamental innovation through ZK privacy payments and reputation mechanisms, rather than simply copying existing systems on the blockchain.”
