Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite Processor Benchmark: Excelling in Multiple Scenarios Beyond Apple M5

Abstract generation in progress

IT House, February 9 — Last year, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite processors. The slightly lower-positioned SoC has undergone testing across a series of CPU and GPU benchmarks. The results were surprising: in some tests, the Snapdragon X2 Elite not only significantly outperformed its predecessor but also surpassed Apple’s M5 in certain scenarios.

What’s more impressive is that the Snapdragon X2 Elite consumes only 5W more power than the M5 but beats the M5 in multiple tests, winning three out of five benchmark categories.

The YouTube channel Hardware Canucks, authorized by ASUS, conducted extensive benchmarking on the ZenBook series laptops. However, it’s important to note that all data comes from engineering samples equipped with early drivers and firmware. In simple terms, these scores may not accurately represent the performance of the Snapdragon X2 Elite mass-produced models expected to launch later this year.

Additionally, all tests were conducted under a power consumption of 31W for the new Snapdragon chip, meaning it only consumes 5W more than the maximum 26W for the M5. The results are as follows: the Snapdragon X2 Elite won three out of five tests, achieving a crushing lead over the first-generation Snapdragon X Elite.

Due to the above reasons, battery life testing was not performed this time. Readers will need to wait until the mass-produced models are available to get a more accurate picture of battery performance. Also note that Windows 11 updates periodically, and system optimization is unstable; battery life may improve or decline, with results varying from person to person.

IT House’s test results are as follows:

Cinebench 2024 (Single-Core)

Snapdragon X2 Elite - 146 (35.2% faster than Snapdragon X Elite)

Snapdragon X Elite - 108

M5 - 200 (37% faster than Snapdragon X2 Elite)

Cinebench 2024 (Multi-Core)

Snapdragon X2 Elite - 1432 (24.2% faster than M5, 48.7% faster than Snapdragon X Elite)

Snapdragon X Elite - 963

M5 - 1153

Blender 5.01 (Lower is better)

Snapdragon X2 Elite - 3:31

Snapdragon X Elite - 5:24

M5 - 5:33

Handbrake (Lower is better)

Snapdragon X2 Elite - 3:29

Snapdragon X Elite - 5:32

M5 - 5:14

DaVinci Resolve 20.3 (Lower is better)

Snapdragon X2 Elite - 22:06
