Kianna Underwood, an actress who participated in iconic Nickelodeon programs during her childhood, died at the age of 33 after being hit by a car on the streets of Brooklyn. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 16, when the woman was crossing the street in the Brownsville neighborhood. Authorities confirmed the accident, and so far, the responsible driver remains at large.

The career of a childhood Nickelodeon actress

Kianna Underwood was born on November 28, 1992, in New York and began her acting career at a very young age. Her first major role came when she debuted in the comedy film “24 Hour Woman” in 1999, playing the character of Tanessha Labelle. This production was showcased at the Sundance Film Festival and marked the beginning of a promising career in the entertainment industry.

In the following years, the actress continued expanding her career in television. Between 1999 and 2004, she voiced one of the main characters in the animated series “Little Bill,” a Nickelodeon production that enjoyed great popularity. Later, she was selected for the final season of “All That,” the channel’s iconic show, where she appeared in seven episodes as a replacement for Jamie Lynn Spears, who left the series to star in “Zoey 101.” After this participation, Underwood decided to step away from the spotlight and leave the entertainment industry.

How the accident happened on Brooklyn streets

The accident that claimed the actress’s life occurred around 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue, in the Brownsville neighborhood. Emergency teams received a 911 call reporting the incident on Brooklyn streets. At that time, Underwood was crossing the street when she was struck by a black Ford car heading west.

According to information obtained by specialized media, the vehicle dragged the actress for more than a block. Most seriously, the driver did not stop to help the victim but continued on and fled the scene. When emergency crews arrived, they found Underwood with severe head and torso trauma. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the actress was declared dead at the scene.

Private life and last public appearances

For over a decade, Kianna Underwood stayed out of the public eye after leaving her acting career. Her disappearance from the spotlight was almost complete until 2021, when a video surfaced on social media showing the woman confirming her identity. In that clip, the actress mentioned she had participated in “All That” on Nickelodeon, although the video showed signs of personal difficulties in her appearance.

The investigation continues without arrests

To date, authorities have made no arrests related to this fatal incident. Investigators are analyzing all circumstances of the accident, including the possibility that Underwood crossed the street when the pedestrian light was red and that the driver did not notice her presence. The probe remains open as efforts continue to identify and locate the driver responsible for the tragedy.
