The spokesperson of the Central Government Liaison Office in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issued a statement on February 9, expressing firm support for the Hong Kong SAR in fulfilling its constitutional responsibility to safeguard national security, and in punishing crimes and activities that endanger national security in accordance with the law. The Hong Kong SAR judiciary has justly sentenced the main culprit involved in anti-China and chaos Hong Kong activities, Jimmy Lai, for conspiracy and collusion with external forces endangering national security, demonstrating judicial fairness and the authority of the rule of law. The spokesperson pointed out that this sentencing fully reflects the Hong Kong SAR’s firm resolve and strong will to punish crimes and activities that threaten national security in accordance with the law.
