On February 12, Federal Reserve Board member Michelle Bowman stated on Wednesday that if asked, she would be “very willing” to serve a long-term term at the Federal Reserve, but the decision is not in her hands. The term for the position she currently holds has expired, making this seat the only one President Trump could have nominated Fed Chair Jerome Powell for before Powell’s appointment. This is unless Fed Chair Powell resigns from his Fed Board position when his term expires in mid-May. Powell has not indicated his intentions to stay or leave. In an interview, Bowman said, “The developments later this year depend on multiple factors: whether a vacancy arises, the choice of the U.S. President, and the Senate confirmation decision.” (Jin10)
