Aicm News: Corridor closure at Terminal 1 alters access to flights

According to news from Mexico City International Airport, the AICM implemented a comprehensive closure of one corridor within Terminal 1 starting at the end of January. The measure is part of modernization and preventive maintenance work that directly affects passenger circulation in the boarding areas. This operational change requires travelers to familiarize themselves with new access routes to the departure gates, depending on whether their flight is domestic or international.

The closed area includes the final waiting lounges for positions 14 to 17, which means the entire corridor connecting these spaces within the terminal is shut down. In light of this adjustment, airport management advises travelers to arrive earlier, follow staff instructions on the ground, and verify the designated entry points in advance to avoid delays during boarding.

How access to domestic flights has changed

Passengers with destinations within Mexico must use only gates 1 and 2 of Terminal 1 to board their flights. They will pass through two inspection points: Bravo 1 and Alpha 2.

It is mandatory to present the boarding pass and valid official ID when passing through security checks. This measure aims to organize passenger flow and ensure the screening process is efficient without affecting scheduled departure times.

Modified route for international travel

For travelers with flights abroad, entry will be through gates 3 and 8 of Terminal 1, leading to inspection points Delta and Gulf.

During security screening, travelers must remove metal objects, personal accessories, and separate electronic devices from their cases. In accordance with international regulations, liquids or gels exceeding 100 milliliters are not permitted, so travelers are advised to check their luggage before presenting themselves to security personnel.

Alternative parking available during construction

Alongside internal infrastructure work, AICM has set up an external parking alternative to reduce road congestion near the airport. Since late January, drivers can use the parking lot at GNP Stadium, located in Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City, with free transportation available 24 hours a day to the terminals.

The shuttle service departs from the bus bay at Terminal 2, with free connection via aerotrén and inter-terminal transport to Terminal 1, without requiring a boarding pass. The parking fee is 40 pesos per hour, with a maximum daily rate of 350 pesos, offering an affordable option during this renovation period.

AICM reports that these measures will remain in effect until further notice, so travelers are advised to stay informed about operational changes that may occur in the coming days.
