Marathon Digital's Bitcoin L2 project Anduro announced that Bitcoin has taken an important step forward in becoming more quantum-resistant in the future. The updated version of BIP 360 has been merged into the official Bitcoin GitHub repository. The update introduces the Pay-to-Merkle-Root (P2MR) output type, addressing the quantum vulnerability of Taproot's key-path spending, while maintaining compatibility with Tapscript and the script tree. This update lays the foundation for post-quantum signatures and is introduced via a soft fork to ensure it does not affect existing Taproot outputs.
