On February 9th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a routine press conference. A reporter from Tokyo Television asked: Following the announcement of Japan’s election results, some posts appeared on Chinese social media expressing concerns about Japan’s rightward shift. What is the Chinese government’s comment on this? Lin Jian stated that back then, Japanese militarist elements led Japan down the path of aggressive war, committing heinous crimes against Asian neighboring countries and the world, and bringing profound disasters to the Japanese people. The lessons of history are very deep. “Learning from history enables us to face the future. Will Japan continue to adhere to the path of peaceful development and take concrete actions to earn the trust of neighboring countries and the international community? Or will it go against the tide of history and challenge the post-war international order? This is something that Japanese policymakers and insightful people across Japan should think deeply about.” Lin Jian reiterated. (The Paper)
