Mike McGlone from Bloomberg Intelligence stated that if Ethereum drops to $1500, Tether's market cap will surpass Ethereum's. He believes Tether could overtake its market cap when Ethereum hits a key support level, and may even have the chance to surpass Bitcoin in the future.

On February 12, Bloomberg Intelligence Senior Commodities Strategist Mike McGlone stated, “If ETH drops to $1,500, Tether’s market cap will surpass ETH. The most enduring trend in the crypto market is Tether ‘surpassing everything,’ with only Bitcoin and Ethereum remaining un surpassed. Tether is expected to exceed its market cap when Ethereum falls near its key support level of about $1,500. Previously, Ethereum broke below its critical support level of $2,500 since 2024. I believe that ultimately, Tether may even surpass Bitcoin, which is currently around $10,000.”
