On February 11th, local time, Tesla (TSLA.US) CEO Elon Musk once again elaborated on his vision for future space exploration, quality drives, and solar energy utilization.

Musk stated that in order to understand the universe, you must explore the universe. Currently, we have only utilized about 1% of Earth’s potential energy. The only way to harness solar energy is to expand beyond Earth. Then, we need to extend our exploration to the Milky Way and other galaxies.

The next step after Earth’s data centers is Earth orbit data centers, with an annual processing capacity of 100 to 200 gigawatts, aiming to reach 1 terawatt per year. By building artificial intelligence satellites on the Moon and deploying real quality drives there, we can achieve over 1,000 gigawatts of processing capacity annually, and potentially eventually reach a few percent of the Sun’s energy.

Musk said it’s hard to imagine what kind of beings with such intelligence would think about, but what happens next will be very exciting. I want to see the quality accelerators on the Moon roaring as they launch satellites into space one after another. I can’t think of anything more thrilling than that. Perhaps we will encounter aliens, or see relics of ancient civilizations. But the only way to achieve all this is to go out and explore.
