On the 10th local time, the United Nations Security Council discussed the situation in South Sudan, expressing concern over the increasingly deteriorating internal security situation and the worsening humanitarian conditions. China proposed the “Four Musts and Four Nots” at the meeting: must stabilize, not conflict; must unite, not divide; must promote peace, not pressure; must provide aid, not cut off supplies. Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Sun Lijun pointed out that China calls on all parties in South Sudan to abide by the ceasefire agreement, stop hostilities, prevent the escalation of the situation, strengthen protection of civilians, civilian facilities, and humanitarian workers, and earnestly fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law. China supports all political forces in South Sudan to resolve differences through inclusive dialogue and avoid actions that could lead to division. China supports solving African problems in an African way and supports safeguarding South Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. (CCTV News)
