Latest polls show the U.S. president's approval ratings have dropped in both governance and immigration issues

CCTV Reporter On February 11th, local time, the latest poll shows that support for U.S. President Trump on immigration and border security has significantly declined, falling to a level comparable to his overall approval rating.

Overall, following the incident in Minnesota where two American citizens were shot and killed by immigration enforcement officers, 60% of respondents expressed “somewhat or strongly dissatisfied” with Trump’s performance on immigration issues, while 40% supported him. The poll indicates that 49% of adult respondents are “strongly dissatisfied” with how Trump is handling border security and immigration, a notable increase from 38% in summer 2025 and 34% in April 2025.

Meanwhile, Trump’s overall approval rating has dropped to 39%, roughly matching his support on immigration issues, down from 42% in December 2025.

The poll shows that nearly three-quarters of respondents believe that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be reformed or abolished; 63% oppose immigration enforcement officers wearing masks; 63% think the federal government is overstepping by ignoring state and local governments; 58% disagree with the statement that “law-abiding citizens need not worry about immigration enforcement.” Additionally, only 34% of respondents support ICE, while 65% believe the U.S. is heading in the “wrong direction.”

It is reported that this poll was conducted online from January 27 to February 6, surveying 21,995 American adults, with a margin of error of ±2.4 percentage points.
