National Energy Administration's Liu Deshun: Accelerate AI empowerment of traditional industries; proactively develop future industries such as hydrogen energy and nuclear fusion energy

Liu Deshun, Chief Engineer of the National Energy Administration and Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Science & Technology Equipment, stated that the “Proposal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development” has identified promoting high-quality development as the theme for the economic and social development during the “Fifteen-Five” period. The important viewpoints and major measures proposed have three points that need to be accurately grasped and effectively implemented in the actual work of energy technology innovation during the “Fifteen-Five” period:

First, the “Proposal” has outlined a strategic blueprint for building an energy powerhouse, clearly defining the goal of initially establishing a new energy system during the “Fifteen-Five” period. We will focus on enhancing the overall effectiveness of the energy science and technology innovation system, promoting continuous optimization and upgrading of the energy industry, and accelerating the cultivation of new advantages and new driving forces.

Second, the “Proposal” emphasizes the leading role of technological innovation, strengthening original innovation and tackling key core technologies. We will closely align with the needs of building a new energy system, gather efforts for original and leading scientific breakthroughs, and rapidly overcome key core technologies in重点领域.

Third, the “Proposal” highlights promoting the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, developing new productive forces suited to local conditions.
