Hey experts, I want to ask how exactly are the funding fees for contract trading determined? Why do they fluctuate constantly, and sometimes are positive, sometimes negative???

Hello, the funding fee is charged between long and short users in the contract, not by the platform. When the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when the funding rate is negative, shorts pay longs. The timing and amount of funding fee collection depend on market conditions, usually occurring every 8 hours or 4 hours. Please refer to the displayed page time. Dynamic adjustment of the funding rate: Starting from August 29, 2025, 18:00 (UTC+8), Gate has launched a dynamic adjustment mechanism for the contract funding rate settlement cycle. When the funding rate in the contract market reaches the upper or lower limit, the system will automatically adjust the settlement cycle for that market to 1 hour. Specific settlement cycle information can be found on the contract information page. For details, please see the announcement: https://www.gate.com/zh/announcements/article/46849
